Buyers have asked for this multisensory resource to be published sooner than had been planned! Do you need word study activities for your students that support Orton Gillingham Programs? Are you a student OG teacher looking for ideas, word lists, and more for the lessons you need to plan for your clinic setting? If you are a teacher that is from Fairleigh Dickinson University (IMSLEC), this resource includes many of the skills from upper level scope and sequence. Are you “maxed out” with time but need to plan short mini-lessons to support students with skill development? Would your students benefit from reviewing previously presented multisensory lessons? Do you want to use multisensory activities that are research based, and provide review and skill development. Most of the Do Now Activities included in this resource include more then one page of practice opportunities. Each Do Now Activity builds on previously presented skills. If you have already purchased Book 1 Do Now Activities, this is the next in the series. For individuals who would like a "background basics of most skills included in the resource, there is information provided with visual examples of activities. Be sure to review the preview resource that provides samples of most of the activities. Due to constraints of the amount of material that can be included in the preview file, I am unable to share all pages. But, there are many samples of multisensory activities available to review prior to purchasing. Do you work with older students who need to develop writing skills? This is a multisensory PDF resource that offers explicit instruction in the writing process, and provides numerous writing prompts: prompts with visuals; written prompts (no visuals) and journal topics that are engaging, and helps develop high cognitive skills along with writing skills. Older student appreciate the style of this multisensory resource; it does not insult students with babyish looking font, and visuals. The prompts are designed for older students. The importance of teaching students the meanings of roots is a great strategy to develop deeper vocabulary and comprehension. When teaching a root, using the principles of Orton Gillingham and multisensory techniques supports vocabulary development of word, sentences, paragraphs and comprehension through large amounts of texts: sections of texts, and chapters expected of students. Struggling students can develop missing reading skills, and higher-functioning students can work toward higher development of reading skills. This is a great tool to differentiate instruction. Students love the spinner and feel proud because some are able to independently "run" the game with classmates. This increase in independence really builds confidence, while still learning. A WIN WIN! Students can work with a partner, in a small group, or participate in a class activity with teacher modeling. The "game" format provides a fun method to internalize the specific skills of words presented. Skills include prefixes, suffixes, phonograms (i. e., consonant blends, ending blends, vowel sounds). What is nice about this activity is the kids have fun while learning. Teachers/parents will need to print out the "spinner and wheel" and using a paper clasp, insert the spinner arrow to the wheel. This lesson focuses on a multisensory approach, repetition, review, sequential focus on spelling rules/generalization skill building for optimum student development and practice using multisensory strategies. It is important each student has time and opportunities to process skills to automaticity. Using a game style activity one of the method is one method to learn. One folder has the playing cards with 45 (X 2 for matching game cards) game cards. Teachers can make this a learning center activity. The other folder is a version in power point format that contains all of the slides used for the game cards, plus additional student activities to develop the separate spelling rules and generalizations. Those particular rules and generalizations include: plural -s plural -es "fszl" "-ck" "-tch" "dge" "age" Doubling Rule E Rule Change Y Rule Optional Use: There are "wild cards" - students can change rule (if they turned over a different rule, so they have a "second chance" at getting a matched pair with another opportunity to turn over another card. Optional: Lose a Turn cards TEACHERS: You can determine the amount of rules to allow students to use. Remember there are 90 cards with the ten spelling rules/generalizations, young students developing visual memory will do better with less cards.But, as students's skills increase, consider increasing the number of rules/generalizations to include. This concentration game is useful for single players, partners or small groups. This bundle is priced affordably. This is a PDF resource to develop the concepts of verbs - in particular helping verbs. Using the Orton Gillingham principles: multisensory, explicit, sequential, cumulative and repetitive, students become better equipped to identify helping verbs. Why is this important, the more understanding students have to the specific functions of a word in a sentence, the stronger the comprehension and writing skills. There are a few multisensory activities to develop understanding of helping verbs separate from "action" or linking verbs.The more "hands-on" activities the stronger a learner's connection. Students often struggle to identify the difference between nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs and prepositions.
